{"id":4237,"date":"2025-05-16T06:47:04","date_gmt":"2025-05-16T06:47:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/casaruralconperrosgirona.com\/do-you-want-to-know-what-a-monumental-tease-is\/"},"modified":"2025-05-21T04:39:37","modified_gmt":"2025-05-21T04:39:37","slug":"do-you-want-to-know-what-a-monumental-tease-is","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/casaruralconperrosgirona.com\/en\/do-you-want-to-know-what-a-monumental-tease-is\/","title":{"rendered":"Do you want to know what a monumental tease is?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">This goes for all of you who <strong>continue booking through Booking.com, Expedia, Hotels.com, Agoda, Trivago and company<\/strong>, thinking that it is &#8220;more comfortable&#8221;, &#8220;safer&#8221; or that &#8220;this way I save trouble&#8221;.<br\/><br\/><strong><em>And I know that with this I&#8217;m going to get into a LIOUS mess!!! because booking.com is always on the lookout&#8230; and today will have consequences&#8230; but&#8230; someone has to say it !!!!!<\/em><\/strong><\/h5>\n\n<p>I will tell you how these platforms work:<br\/><strong>They resell reservations, hide customer data, charge us wild commissions and, when there is a problem, they disappear.<\/strong><br\/>No help, no attention, no responsibility. Just middlemen <strong>making money at our expense and yours.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The numbers do not deceive:<\/h3>\n\n<p><strong>Booking.com alone invoiced almost 24 billion euros in 2024, only in commissions.<\/strong><br\/>I repeat: <strong>24 billion ONLY in commissions<\/strong>.<br\/>That means that the total volume of bookings that have passed through their hands is around <strong>247 billion euros<\/strong>at least.<br\/>And now comes the best part: <strong>a large part of that turnover is channeled through tax havens<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>Get it?<br\/><strong>While we work our asses off and pay our taxes, they take it all, without giving anything back to the system.<\/strong><br\/>And on top of that, they take <strong>it all.<\/strong> <strong>we support you with every booking. You and us. <\/strong><br\/>We are financing an unfair system that squeezes us and on top of that we <strong>are not taxed where we should be.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The real case (because this is not theory):<\/h3>\n\n<p>Some Swiss clients made a reservation at MasTorrencito through <strong>Booking.com<\/strong>.<br\/>Booking, without notifying the client or me, <strong>resold the reservation through Agoda.com<\/strong>, which is also theirs (although they deny it).<br\/>And I receive the reservation <strong>with no phone number, no email, no way to contact them.<\/strong> Just a name and a virtual card. <\/p>\n\n<p>And this <strong>is not a hotel with 24-hour staff<\/strong>.<br\/>It&#8217;s a rural house, in the middle of the countryside.<br\/>I need to be able to contact clients, send them instructions, guide them<strong>&#8230;<\/strong><br\/><strong>But these platforms block everything.<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-post-featured-image\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/casaruralconperrosgirona.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/secuestropermitido.jpg\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail size-post-thumbnail wp-post-image\" alt=\"secuestroyextorsionconsensuados\" style=\"object-fit:cover;\" srcset=\"https:\/\/casaruralconperrosgirona.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/secuestropermitido.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/casaruralconperrosgirona.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/secuestropermitido-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/casaruralconperrosgirona.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/secuestropermitido-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/casaruralconperrosgirona.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/secuestropermitido-768x768.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Did I try to solve it? Of course you did: <\/h3>\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I call <strong>Agoda<\/strong>: they tell me that they can&#8217;t give me the data, that they are &#8220;a gateway&#8221;.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Llamo a&nbsp;<strong>Booking<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>More than 40 minutes of waiting time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Three different people.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Zero solutions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They tell me that the reservation is &#8220;not theirs&#8221;.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I tell them that Agoda is from the same group. They deny it. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And they take me for a fool.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I call AGODA again&#8230; and more of the same&#8230; that they will send an email to Booking.com to contact us&#8230; but the reality is that at this time&#8230; when the client has already left&#8230; NOTHING at all&#8230;.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p>And the clients?<br\/><strong>They didn&#8217;t know anything.<\/strong> They thought they had booked directly with Booking.<br\/>But luckily, <strong>this time it worked out well.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p><strong>They arrived at the famous yellow door.<\/strong><br\/>They called on the phone. I answered. <br\/>I gave them the code to enter. I waited for them. <br\/><strong>I explained everything to them, I did the check-in in person, and also the check-out.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Thanks to that<\/strong>, there was no drama.<br\/>But what if they had arrived later? If they had arrived after 22:00 h that my phone is silent???? Who would have opened the door? Who would have contacted me?    <\/p>\n\n<p>If they had not called? If they had been lost in the middle of the field without coverage? <br\/>What would have happened then?<\/p>\n\n<p>Whose fault would it have been?<\/p>\n\n<p>Of course, <strong>neither from the client nor from me<\/strong>. BUT THE NEGATIVE CRITICISM FALLS ON ME&#8230; YES OR YES  <\/p>\n\n<p><br\/>But Booking, Agoda, Expedia and company <strong>wash their hands and continue to charge as if they were offering a service.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What about Expedia, Hotels.com, Trivago, etc.?<\/h3>\n\n<p><strong>They do the same thing.<\/strong><br\/>They resell reservations.<br\/>They hide information from you.<br\/>They charge outrageous commissions.<br\/>And if you have a problem, <strong>look for yourself<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">So please <strong>open your eyes<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you book through these platforms, <strong>you are paying more without knowing it<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They are destroying direct treatment, personalized service, <strong>and our margin for survival.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And in case of a problem, <strong>they don&#8217;t show their face and they don&#8217;t solve it<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">And the saddest part of all this&#8230;.<\/h3>\n\n<p><strong>We are &#8220;forced&#8221; to be on these platforms.<\/strong><br\/>Because if you don&#8217;t appear on Booking, Expedia, Trivago or similar, <strong>you don&#8217;t exist<\/strong>.<br\/>Just like they used to say:<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;If you&#8217;re not on Google, you don&#8217;t exist.&#8221;<br\/>So now it&#8217;s:<br\/>&#8220;If you&#8217;re not on these platforms, you&#8217;re off the map.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p>They hold us <strong>digitally hostage<\/strong>.<br\/>They squeeze us, they make us invisible if we do not pay, and on top of that <strong>they channel their profits out of the country to avoid paying taxes.<\/strong><br\/>And the worst part: <strong>we continue to feed this monster among all of us<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MORALEJA (for the last time, clearly and bluntly):<\/h3>\n\n<p><strong>Book directly.<\/strong><br\/>It&#8217;s cheaper.<br\/>It&#8217;s fairer.<br\/>And if something happens, <strong>you talk to a real person who really cares.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>Because Booking, Agoda, Expedia, Hotels.com, Trivago and company <strong>are not trustworthy services.<\/strong><br\/>They are unscrupulous <strong>money-making machines<\/strong> that only leave us the crumbs&#8230; and they don&#8217;t even pay their share.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">REFLECTION: THE PLATFORM TRAP<\/h3>\n\n<p>The hardest part of all this is not that they steal commissions from us.<br\/>It is not that they hide basic information about our own guests from us.<br\/>It is not that they resell our rooms as if they owned them.<br\/>It is not even that they treat us as if we were stupid when we try to complain about something.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>The hardest thing is that we cannot escape.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>We are &#8220;forced&#8221; to be on Booking.com, Expedia, Agoda, Hotels.com, Trivago and all that swarm of intermediaries.<br\/>Because if you don&#8217;t appear there, <strong>you don&#8217;t exist<\/strong>.<br\/>Because most people, out of habit or ignorance, <strong>still enter these platforms as a first step to look for accommodation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>We are trapped.<br\/><strong>Digitally kidnapped<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>They squeeze you inside, they demand visibility, but <strong>they make you invisible as a person.<\/strong><br\/>Because as soon as something goes wrong,  <strong>No one shows their face. Nobody answers. Nobody takes responsibility.  <\/strong><br\/>And if the customer gets lost, if they can&#8217;t get in, if there&#8217;s a problem, <strong>the blame falls on you<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>Because for the customer, only you exist.<br\/>To the platform, you are just a number in its database.<\/p>\n\n<p>And all this while they <strong>bill billions a year<\/strong> (Booking alone in 2024: 24,000 million euros in commissions),<br\/><strong>channel their income through tax havens<\/strong> to avoid paying taxes,<br\/> and<strong>present themselves as &#8220;partners&#8221; of the tourism sector<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>They are not partners.<br\/><strong>They are predators<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>What about us?<br\/><strong>We who open the door. Those who welcome. The ones who clean. The ones who cook.
